USC Office of Religious Life (ORL)
The mission of The University of Southern California Office of Religious Life is to foster a vibrant university community that encourages the pursuit of meaning through spiritual reflection and free inquiry, provide fair opportunities to participate in religious life, advance mutual understanding and respect among different traditions—and in all these ways, strengthen us to actively engage in building a just and peaceful world.
USC Interfaith Council
The University of Southern California has more student religious groups that any other university in the United States, and the USC Interfaith Council comprises student leaders representing the diversity of faiths across campus. The Interfaith Council (IFC) is open to all students of all faith traditions. The Council meets weekly for discussion and also sponsors interfaith events such as the Multifaith Celebration, Interfaith Worship during Parent's Weekend and service projects as part of the President's Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge.
USC's President's Interfaith and Community Service Challenge
In early 2011, The White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships launched the President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge, an initiative inviting institutions of higher education to commit to a year of interfaith cooperation and community service programming on campus. This programming might take the form of diverse campus groups working together to implement a specific year-long service project. It might also involve students from a campus partnering with local religious groups to tackle a specific community challenge together. Over 300 colleges and universities around the country have accepted the challenge, including USC. The Interfaith Council is devoting the 2011-12 academic year to interfaith-based service, ranging from local, day and weekend-long service projects to broad sweeping sustainable initiatives, like iFam and the recently inaugurated yearly Student Multifaith Leadership Conference.
United University Church
Rooted in the love of God, and following the example of Jesus, the faith community of United University Church seeks peace with justice, and welcomes all to join the journey, break bread and share stories of hope. Part of our mission as a Jesus community is to create an interfaith space where people of all religious traditions (and no religious tradition) are welcome to build relationships with one another and work together for positive social transformation.
